I already have a wireless router. It's a standard Netgear one I god off ebay and it's been serving me well, however my mother just got a labtop and wants to browse the internet for in her room and the signal there is doing an on/off thing.

    My question:

Do some routers have a stronger signal than others? Which ones have the strongest signals? I know we can always relocate the router, but that doesn't seem like a good option.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Netgear routers are pretty good, not being able to pick it up everywhere in the house is a common thing and is usually due to position of the router. A central part of the house is usally the best place for it to be.

Of course if this is not possible you could always get an access point and either run a wire from the router to the access point or use it as a range extended. This would then extend your coverage to wherever you may need it;)

How does one go about getting a "access point" is it just another wireless router that you connect to the old one?
