So, I guess i decided not to do a full on upgrade of my comp, but should i get the Amd Athlon 64 x2 4200+?... shown here on newegg...

I have a Amd Athlon 64 3500+ currently, and I did the 3dBenchmark on it, and when it got to my processor, i received like 1 frame per second at best (it sucked i know!) So how much of an upgrade would it be if I did get the Amd Athlon 64 x2 4200+? Would it really be worth it?(66 bucks for the dual core isn't too bad either though). If someone could help, that would be the bomb!

If you multitask, and do a lot of video/audio encoding, yes.

    For games, not so much.

unfortunately, there really isn't much of an upgrade for a socket 939 other than that one...(and no I can't run an Intel on this mobo) so I guess it's gonna have to do. But the thing is, I have a x1950pro radeon 512mb, and the graphics are great, it's just whenever a lot of stuff has to render (like a lot of people dueling it out at once) it lags soo much. So that must mean that i need a better cpu and ram right?

I don't want to dispute Adrynalyn, but I upgraded to a dual core 939, and I like it! It seems much faster. Perhaps it's cores are better than my old 939's single core. Heck, you can run two F@H instances also...

You might want to look at your RAM.

    E;)

You arent disputing me, as F@H isn't a game ;)

Note I said, if you multiask, yes...

There are quite a few S939 upgrades, including the FX series...

hmm, i rmber there are opterons for 939, they pack quite a punch. If your into overclocking you can get yourself a opteron 165, they overclock very well imo

Yeah, My mobo only supports AMD Athlon64, AMD Sempron and Athlon 64 X2. And I don't want to switch out my Mobo for a new one, because i'll more than likely have to reinstall windows and I don't have the disk, because Compaq didn't give me one. So I would have to buy all kinds of new crap, and I don't feel like spending the bucks.... So.. thats about it..
