Hello. I am having consistent problems with ad-w-a-r-e.com and several other pop-ups that sometimes cause my computer to crash when not in safe mode. I have followed all instructions in the starter's thread: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407 several times, and have made little progress.

    Summary:

    WinXP Home Edition
    System Restore turned off
Downloaded SP2 last night (after problems started)

Online virus scans found nothing except "TROJ IDLY.C"

Ad-Aware and Spybot always pick up the same adware problems: VSX, CoolWWW, DSO Exploit, Common Hijacker, redirects, others. I have downloaded all the programs and upgrades in the tutorial and used them in safe mode.

I tried to download the Look2me website's uninstaller, but IE told me that security settings would not allow this download. I have read elsewhere that this uninstaller will help.

I also read the HJT tutorial and could not find anything to delete for certain. I searched the database for each O4 entry.

I was confused about the SpyBot DSO patch. Is it a patch, or a completely new version of the SpyBot program? I scanned with both programs.

I always get error messages during restart that inform me of probelms with various .dll files such as KZDKYR.DLL and CSL3DV2.DLL. Sometimes my computer crashes to a blue screen with lots of 0s on it.

Can anyone help me beyond the basic tutorial?

    Thank you,
    Andrew

The DSO Exploit fix is a patch for Spybot. You need the 1.3 Final version of Spybot to be installed and running first before running this fix.

If you have not already installed the SP2 upgrade, do not do that until the current issues have been resolved. Issues like these can cause upgrade problems.

Make sure you have HijackThis 1.99 and follow the guidelines on where to install it and how to post a log as an attachment. This is all covered in the sticky thread NO HIJACK THIS LOG FILES BEFORE READING THIS: HJT Tutorial & LOG File Posting

Now post a HijackThis as a .txt file attachment to your message. All running programs should be closed, including your web browser, e-mail. Close before running Hijack This!

To repeat: Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file. Place it in its own folder, for example C:\Program Files\HJT
