BF Vietnam problem

I am having a problem in bf viet where my computer randomly crashed to desktop, Now this does happen in other games I play but it is more frequent in bf.
I am really at a loss as what may be causing it, nothing is overheating, all my drivers are up to date, and all windows updates. Any ideas would be appreciated.

system:

2ghz P4 800mhz fsb
gigabyte mobo
1 gig ram
nvidia 4600 128mb

 

also..
running win xp home, nothing running in msconfig at startup

It didnt fix mine, also i have this problem with other games..just not bf

 

i had the same problem, the way i fixed my problem was to lower my memery to 320MHz instead of 400MHz. after i did that, no more crashing to desktop are the computer rebooting after playing about 10-15 min. into a game


specs are
P4P800 mother board
1gig of crucial ram 3200
p4 2.8
5700 ultra Vcard

 

I am yet another person that had this same problem. The only reason I don't have to deal with it anymore is because I don't play the game much anymore. Even when I did play the game, I couldn't play online because I don't have a CD key. It was still pretty fun even with bots, and I'd love to play online.

If the patch didn't work for you, I'd do something similar to what DaKeith suggested. It does kind of sound like a memory issue, but then again, you've got a GB of RAM, so I don't know how it could be a memory problem.

 

Make sure you are not overclocking anything.
Disable Hyper-Threading, and download latest
BFV patches and any drivers that need to be
updated for your pc.
