BFG GeForce 7800 GS OC problem

hey i recently purchased the afore mentioned graphics card. The main game i play is call of duty 2. By setting my graphics as "optimal system settings" it puts in on Directx9 and boosts up other graphics settings that i never could do without it being practically unplayable. When i do play it with these settings i usually get 30-40 fps normally and when i change the graphics settings to a much lower setting it only boosts in up to 40-50 fps normally. With the older graphics card i had it was getting 100 fps normally with medium graphics settings.

Why is this? and why cant i get 100 fps with my new card even though it is much better? does it have something to do with my motherboard or what?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

are you using the drivers that came with the card or the new Nvidia ones? also, what was your previous card? Another thing could be that your PSU isnt able to power that card; it is quite a beefy one at that

 

Post ur full system specs and will see what the problem could be !

You might need to update ur Motherboard Bios since its a newer card,But make sure you know how to do it.

Make sure all your video card drivers,sound card drivers etc. are UPDATED!

also something weird happened today, while i was playing COD2 my game starting getting very very laggy due to fps and then all of a sudden i was getting 75-125 fps constant for about 5 minutes and then it did the same thing and went back to the old 40-50 fps : (

 

can u check ur PSU and find out how many watts it provides total?

 

Yah u got to tell us your psu its a must=) and motherboard would be nice.Call up the company and ask

 

Make sure you're using Omega Drivers, they help.

I wouldn't play around with the settings on your GPU, but it may be computer settings that you have changed. For example, in FEAR you can change Physics settings, and if you don't have a good enough CPU, it can run very slow. So make sure you have those set to Medium or Low.

 

He said with his old graphics card he got 100fps lol it cannot be his cpu

 

I just basically said the settings may have been changed... and it's not like overclocking never screws up hardware.

 

new omega drivers havent been released in QUITE a while so i really doubt that they would support the 7800GS which is a relatively new card. The newest Nvidia drivers will work just fine

 

my psu gets 400 watts which is the minimum for that card...and ill try to find out what my motherboard is

400 watts.Im 90% sure thats to low you should get a 550W to 600W to power that beeefy card.Power supplies are cheap these days and go for about 80-100$,but make sure if fits your case.You might want to call who ever made your computer.

 

Why would you want 100FPS??

I'd be fine with 30-40 it looks smooth enough to me.
