Hello guys, once again I have a problem that I cannot seem to figure out on my own. So earlier today a friend and I tried to play BFME 1 via LAN. We cannot see eachother in the lobby. We have been able to play BFME 1 before though. I am running Win XP Pro and my friend is running Win 7 Home Premium. So far I have tried port forwarding and enabling and disabling a number of devices. My router is a Netgear WGR614 v7. Thanks in advance for your help, and helping me with previous problems.

Make sure the firewall on each computer is allowing the correct ports to be open.
I would also take the time to spell out BFME next time to avoid any confusion.

Has there been any changes on either system since the last time you played?

If both computers are on the same LAN port forwarding wont do anything unless the system your communicating with is outside your router.

Thanks for the response. Anyways I don't think there has been any changes to either system, at least to what I'm aware of. Also with the firewall thing, how would I go about doing that?

    Windows XP Firewall:
**You will need to be logged in as an administrator to make changes to the firewall.**

    **Control Panel**

Click Start > Control Panel to open the control panel.

    (control panel - catagory view)
Click Security Center > Windows Firewall

    (control panel - classic view)
    Double-click Windows Firewall

    Click the exceptions tab

    **Allow exception by Program**

    Click Add Program button

Click Browse and navigate to the program's .exe file you want to allow though. This is usually in the C:\Program Files\<product name>\ folder.

Select the .exe file and click Open
The program should now be added to the programs list.

Select the program and click OK.

    **Allow exception by port**

    Click Add Port button

Enter a descriptive name such as the name of the game or service in the name field.

Enter the port number you want to open in the port number field and select TCP or UDP.

If this is only for computers on your network then I would click the chnage scope button and select "My network (subnet) only".

    Click OK

    Windows 7 Firewall:

Click Start > Control Panel > System and Security > Windows Firewall

Click "Allow a program or feature though Windows Firewall" (left hand side)

    Click "Change Settings"

    Click "Allow another program"

    Click Browse button

Navigate to the program's .exe file usually in C:\Program Files.

Select the .exe file and click Open

The program should be be in the programs list

Select the program and click the Add button

Make sure private is checked and if you need it to be accessed from the internet make public is also checked.
