Okay, I finally got my new computer built, at first everything was running beautifully besides the fact that my video card didn't come with the 6 pin connector so I had to order one, but it still ran games, counter-strike and world of warcraft. So I was playing World of warcraft last night everything was fine, i go to play counter-strike : source before work and the thing blue screens and my mouse pointer looks really strange it has some black lines going through it and when it loading the cursor looks screwed up as well currently.

I tried playing regular counter-strike 10 minutes ago and it was glitchy and fuzzy and i could see everything through walls i couldnt make out text or anything, but it was "playable". Now I find myself not being able to play any games because something here is messed up.

Last blue screen i got was starting up wow it had an error then went to send a report then BLUE SCREEN.

    my specs are :

    Windows XP Professional
    nVidia nForce 4 MOBO
    Geforce 6800 Ultra PCI-E
    AMD 64 3800+
1.5 gigs ram (all same speeds)
    Sound Blaster Audigy 2
    Hitachi 80 gig HD 7200rpm
    500 Watt Power Supply

now i really had no problems until i loaded counter-strike : source and tried to play that, it loading up I got a wonderful blue screen and everything was horse doo after that, I ran a system restore and it is still messed up.

Check the event log and find the error and post it here.

Start, run and type in eventvwr.msc then OK.

I would also make sure you have the latest motherboard drivers and especially nForce 4 drivers, as well as video card drivers.

im guessing its this one because the time is far apart from the next boot on each one.

The COM+ Event System failed to fire the ConnectionMade method on subscription {69612152-8B38-40E4-89C1-52EABF1B4445}-{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}-{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}. The subscriber returned HRESULT 80004001.

My question is thus. How old is the original Counter Strike game?

I've recently (3 months ago), ran into an issue where a game (3 years old) would work wonderful with older drivers, but a newer game (6 months) didn't work at all, until I upgraded the drivers.

Drivers in question was video drivers.

My question, when did Counter Strike come out?

I do admit I am not the be-all, end-all computer gaming guru. I just admit my one time experience between ancient/old games vs newer games.

Edit: It takes me a bit of time to post. So, the COM+ error. Do you have all windows updates installed? All that you have stated is that you have xp pro. But, don't list sp2.

I also, would love to know what the Blue screen of death (BSOD) was.

The COM+ Event System detected a bad return code during its internal processing. HRESULT was 8007041F from line 44 of d:\nt\com\com1x\src\events\tier1\eventsystemobj.cpp. Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services to report this error.

i got this too, also when I was trying to do tests on my video card with direct x (dxdiag) and it was supposed to show triangles and rectangles being drawn on my screen, I saw nothing, I once saw my cross hair move. Then I Tested Direct 3D and the screen went black, blue screened and restarted my computer.

oh and this I see alot of (50) which is the one above and (52's) and this one

The COM+ Event System attempted to fire the EventObjectChange::ChangedSubscription event but received a bad return code. HRESULT was 80040201.

I would uninstall the game/s, then try to reinstall them.

You have modern hardware, and a very old game. That don't always live well together.

Completely remove the game, then right click it's installer, then properties, then compatibility mode and try that.

I would also update all your video card and motherboard drivers.

my problem is the fact that they where working perfectly one day, no problems with world of warcraft OR counter-strike, but then the next morning I boot it up to play another game (which i uninstalled) it blue screened and has been trouble ever since.

There is obviously some corruption of the game.

It happens, and I've experienced it many times.

No one can give you a precise explanation without having the PC in front of them.

One thing that would be worth trying would be to uninstall the graphics drivers and reinstall them. Bad drivers can do what you are experiencing.
Also, am I getting this right that you ran the card without the 6 pin connector?
I don't know the high end cards like that, but I hope that is not a critical
power supply for your card. Have you gotten the one you ordered in yet?

    ok a little update :

    my motherboard fried ( 120$ )
and my graphics card died due to me being a retard and running it without the 6 pin power cable (310$)
paying the guy to find out wth the problem was (225$) = $655 wasted.

everything is resolved now, but im running a S3 ViRge Graphics card, only pci the guy at the shop had... 32 bit and 2 mb ram, cant even play half life at 16 bit in software mode.

thanks for the help though. appreciated.
