Okay guys, I've really screwed up Winders now.

I've been playing Oblivion and I need all the extra resources I can get, so I was going to run the Windows "classic theme" and adjust for "Best Performance." I was looking through the list of themes and I have some additional ones because a long time ago I had StyleXP, and I guess I didn't delete all the old themes.

Anyhow, I randomly picked one that I didn't recognize and now I can't get it off. Why, you might ask?

I don't know if it's a glitch or what, but the theme I loaded covers up the task bar, the start menu, text inside windows, etc.

It's hard to explain and I can't offer a screenshot because I can't even navigate to change the display. Basically, I can't change anything because I can't see anything inside of the window for the control panel because all I see is the icons, no text. Well it's pretty easy to open up the Display option, but then the ENTIRE box is black.

I know this sounds retarded, but I need something where I can change the Windows theme from the command prompt or some program I can run that will automatically change it. I can do very little. Going into safemode still runs this theme, even though I didn't think it would.

Does anyone have any ideas? I'm having to use my roommate's computer :(

Have you tried using a restore point from BEFORE the time this "Theme" took over?
Try doing a Search for "Theme"....a lot of results will show up but if you remember the Name of it you might be able to delete it so it won't load when you reboot. If it won't delete while in use delete it in safe mode.

It still loads in safe mode, that's what's so screwed up about it, I guess.

I have no idea what the name of it was, but if I can get on a working user account, is it possible to delete all third-party themes? And if so, might this work?

    Good idea!
Try a different account.( with administrative privileges, I think)
The "bad" theme shouldn't load, but I'm not sure if your display options would show up any better
    It's worth a shot
    :D

Well, I tried deleting every single non-standard theme on my computer, but for some odd reason, that didn't work.

I did try a system restore and I have to admit that for once, Windows' built-in support actually solved a problem of mine :)

Thanks for the suggestion, I don't really understand what happened or how a theme could do that to my computer. But thanks again! :D

    A-OK!
Now make a NEW restore point for NOW and you'll be "Good to Go"!
    ;)
