Posting info that may help someone on BigPond with W98SE or ME and wanting to use WiFi with USB adapter.
I was told by BigPond that their WiFi Internet hardware wouldn't work on Windows ME or 98. So my parents (on ME) have had a cable running across their family room for the last 3 months.
I have recently discovered that BigPond's advice is not correct. What they probably mean is that their installation CD won't work on those OS's. This is correct.
To run hardware with ME or 98SE, you just need to download and install the USB adapter's drivers, then plug in the USB adapter. It then runs you through a few config questions (after detecting the adapter), then you manually connect to the network. QED. :)

PS My parents are on cable, and I also managed to WiFi connect a W98SE computer of mine on ADSL (through the phone line to modem, then wirelessly transmits to PC).
