How do I find out how large a hard drive my BIOS will support? Gateway laptop NX500XL, BIOS Phoenix 9/28/05.
    Thanks

You have a bios from 2005 so you should be able to put any disk size your wish in there,if the old drive was 250gb you shouldn't any problems with a 320gb pata drive which is the largest PATA I've seen,if its SATA just go for the largest one you can afford.

I can't find the exact spec sheet for your model if you could point it out or post the service number that would be helpful.

If you could post the rest of the specs I could sniff it out for you, include as much as you can especially the the size of the old drive and the connector it uses.

The worst that can happen is it won't see the storage beyond its limit but it should still work and if not you can always return it and exchange for a smaller one, even if your mobo doesn't support a large drive I would still buy one and try it.
