BIOS backflash

Is there a way to find a BIOS that was issued before an update.
I have an HP with ASUS MB A8N-LA. The BIOS update from HP causes the fan to run at a ridiculous speed. It is on high speed always. Before answering let me say this:

This is a desktop
Unit is squeaky clean
Heatsink fan replaced
Heatsink cleaned
New paste applied
According to CoreTemp - CPU is 38ºc
New Case fan
new install of windows xp

There is a thread elsewhere on the web that indicates this problem starting occurring after an HP update that included BIOS flash.

There is no reference to this MB from ASUS on the ASUS site.
The fan is so noisy that the unit is un usable.
It sounds like a jet with someone pressing on the excellerator and the releasing, constantly.

IF anyone has any suggestions they are appreciated. I have another post here under hardware about the fan, but with no resolution.

Yea, that's the problem. The updated BIOS from HP is what started this whole mess.

No fan options on the BIOS, even with F11.

 

Yes it's old, but most BIOS will implement more APM than ACPI calls. In fact older hardware is likely to have a very bad ACPI implementation - even new hardware that get needs APM activated or the machine does not power down properly.
