bios not detecting harddrive..??

    i have laptop dell lattitude d610.with pentium m processor and 1 b ram,40gb hdd and windows xp on it and drive is IDE.now problem is bios says that primary hard disk drive not found.i changed harddrive,try a new one..but still same error.what could be the reason?

    Did you pull the plastic 'adapter' thing off the original hard drive and put it on the replacement hard drive? Pretty sure that one may have one. It is small, and goes on the IDE pins to connect the drive to the computer.
