Hello everyone , I hope you can help me with this problem I am having. Let me say my computer was working perfectly the other day then it just switched off and I started getting the blue screen of death , so I thought if I switched the p.c off at the wall and turn it back on it would work... but it didn't after about 30 attempts and changing the BIOS after windows had loaded it went straight to the blue screen of death after all of my 30 attempts and different BIOS settings ,so I thought let's change the BIOS settings again and now my monitor gets power but doesn't turn on... SOOOO I decided to reformat my hard drive and I put it back on but still it won't let me install windows or anything because it doesn't show screen. My monitor does work I have tried it on 3 different p.c's and I have tried 2 other monitors on my p.c but none of them show anything...
All I can remember doing last is changing something on the graphics/video thing but because my monitor doesn't show anything I can't get back into BIOS to change it back to how it was.

Sooooo has anyone got any solutions for this problem?

THANK YOU:) i'll try anything to get my p.c working again.

    specs are:
    AMD Athlon Dual Core 3800+
    1024MB RAM
    256MB x850xt Radeon Graphic card
    250gb seagate SATA hard drive
    ALIVE SATA GLAN motherboard

You might try shutting everything down and unplugging the system from the wall. Then take out the system battery for several minutes, and then put it back in. This should reset the CMOS, which will return the system setup settings to their defaults. If something you changed in the BIOS video settings caused the monitor problem, this will hopefully correct it.

Forgot to mention the jumpers - if you have your motherboard manual, or can obtain it in pdf form from the manufacturer's website, there are jumpers that you can use to reset the CMOS without having to take the battery out and waiting.

If you do take the battery out, a co-worker just suggested waiting as long as 30 mins before putting it back in.

I think you disabled the video card. I don't know if it is possible in all BIOS but in mine it has an option for amount of memory allocated to onboard video which i can turn to disable and there is a tab underneath that reads Disable PCI-E. If this is the case then you might have to buy a new card plug ur monitor into it get into bios turn graphic card back on and then plug the monitor back into the old video VGA output. I remember thinking when I was young how much it would suck if i acciendently put it to disable and didn't have a backup video card. So umm yeah good luck. That is my educated guess since by BIOS supports that feature.

Ok , thanks for the replies. Someone else suggested taking the battery out of the motherboard too but how do I do that? Do I need any tools? And i'll check the motherboard manufactuers site in a minute to see about the jumpers. Thanks again.

Oh also would you be able to link a site for the pdf about the jumpers I can't find one. thanks.

Erm , i've been looking for about 15 minutes for jumpers on the motherboard but can't seem to find any. I can't seem to remove the battery either. How do I do it on a Alive Sata2 Glan motherboard?
    Thanks.

Oh , sorry i've taken the battery out of the motherboard (making sure I took the powercable from the pc). Put the battery back in but it doesn't seem to make a difference and I can't seem to find any jumpers on the motherboard. Does anyone know where to locate them on an Alive Sata2 Glan motherboard?

ive just found a link to the user manual for your mobo in a pdf format.

    http://www.asrock.com/manual/ALiveSATA2-GLAN.pdf

heres what it says about clearing the CMOS...

CLRCMOS1 allows you to clear the data in CMOS. The data in CMOS includes
system setup information such as system password, date, time, and system
setup parameters. To clear and reset the system parameters to default setup,
please turn off the computer and unplug the power cord from the power
supply. After waiting for 15 seconds, use a jumper cap to short 2 pins on
    CLRCMOS1 for 5 seconds.

Hello thanks for finding the users manual for me. I appreciate it. I have found the CLRCMOS1 now but it seems to just be 2 pins on there own , is something missing?

You need to put a jumpter to short the 2 pins for 5 seconds. If you are carefull and have steady hands, you can use a screwdriver or simular conductive object, or pull a jumper off a CD Drive or hard drive if you have one laying around. Be carefull poking around with a screwdriver...

Sorry just looked at the maual from the link posted above. I have never seen a CMOS jumper with 2 pins, but that is how it is in the manual, so I am assuming that is it.

Ok thanks so much all of you. My monitor is back on finally! :) Now when I try and install windows I put the disc in and start the pc up but it says please insert windows xp service pack 2 in drive A. I have tried putting the disc in both drives but it just says the same thing.
    Any ideas?
    THANKS.
