Did you try removing the CMOS battery and changing the jumper? What about the generic passwords or the utility it listed (not sure if it's freeware or not).

EDIT: Actually, I just realized that you're using a notebook, so it's a lot of trouble to reset the jumper or take out the CMOS battery. I'd give the generic passwords a go or also, depending on what make the BIOS is (Phoenix, Award, etc.) you might be able to get in touch with the BIOS company about a workaround. Just a thought.

    Good luck!

As far as my searching can tell, that program seems to have never been put anywhere other than where that dead link now points to :cry

I found another program you can try. I've never used it and don't know anything about it, but you're welcome to try it. It seems legit, but I'd recommend you virus scan it first. I'd imagine you run it on a working computer and create a disc or something for the computer with the password-protected BIOS.

    Info page I found: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/CmosPwd

On down the page, there's a a Download section. Again, try it at your own risk. I know nothing of how this program works, but it's the only suggestion I have.

You may be able to find what brand BIOS your model has with some Google searching and then that may help you determine which generic passwords to try. Again, you may want to contact that BIOS company when/if you find out which one you have.

There are some programs that claim to wipe out BIOS passwords from within Windows. I've never used 'em, and can't remember where I saw 'em, but I know they exist. There's also some bootable programs that will set your BIOS back to default settings: along with wiping out passwords, they'll also reset the date, time, everything. I've used these in the past and I think one was called KillCMOS or something similarly sinister. It worked GREAT on an older Toshiba that I was locked out of....

    Thanks,for all the information........
KillCMOS basically "resets" your computer's CMOS settings to the factory defaults. Works with ALL CMOS. KiLLCMOS only changes checksums & values that makes the motherboard CMOS revert back to factory defaults.

Editors Note: We occasionally are informed that programs like KillCMOS are infected with a virus. Note that the operating system system requirement for this program is DOS. This means you need to be able to boot from a floppy or CD to DOS and execute the program. If you are running this program from Windows, then you did not read the directions. Any good anti-virus program will detect an attempt to access the bios and inform you it is a virus.
............when it says to boot from a floppy or cd to dos and execute the program, how would you go about doing that?,i cant access boot sequence in bios.
