Hi, I recently had a keyboard replaced on my elitebook x360, which reset the bios. Since the fan has been super loud and been told to set the fan speed I need to enter bios. This is locked by a password which I don’t know.
Is there a standard HP bios code or is there anyway to find out what it is?

    cheers

If you don't know the bios password the only way to reset it is to remove the cmos battery on the motherboard wait for 10-20 secs and then put the battery back and turn on the machine and enter bios the password should have been removed. take a look here for the steps https://www.wikihow.com/Reset-a-BIOS-Password

Remove a cmos battery usually doesn't help. It did years ago but laptop manufacturers changed that.

Using the above 2 links posted by foogoo might work if you enter the wrong BIOS password 3 times and can generate a code.
I posted the same thing for someone at a forum in the last month but have never gotten feedback if it worked or didn't work.

Hi Everyone. I have HP EliteBook 850 G1. The laptop runs amazing in windows 10. No issue when it runs, but the problem is the bios has an unknown password. I tried removing cmos battery and main battery, it reset the bios, but not the password. It does show the error code when I enter 3 times the wrong password. Can anyone tell me what is the solution? Thank you.

The code has to be run through the generators found on those sites while it is on screen. If you turn it off and try it again the code changes.
Is the code you get 5 digits?

Hi. Sorry, I meant it does not show the error code. It takes me on-screen keyboard.

Try this..Some HP/Compaq laptops only show the hash if the F2 or F12 key has been pressed prior to entering an invalid password for the last time.
