I would like to change my BIOS password but whenever I click on either set password or clear password I get a VIEW ONLY screen. Is there any way to get around this. Iam using XP and service pack 2. Thanks

HI, If it already has a password are you using it to get in and change it?

I don't like a Bios Password as it can cause problems if the computer has to go elsewhere for repair etc.

I do live by myself so don't have to worry about someone accidently changing items.

Yes I do have a password on it and I use it to get on. Iwould like to take your advice and get rid of the password but it keeps saying -view only- how do I get past this and set it for no password? Thanks

I would just clear the CMos memory, take the pin out for a good 20min...and then put it back on...well it all depents on you matherboard so you have to look at your manual to know how to do that...you could remove the battery also for a while too.....
