Hello. I have a Toshiba Satellite C55D-B5385 laptop running windows 10.
I turned on the laptop one morning and it started flashing my bios. I did not
initiate this process. The flash update failed and now I cannot get the computer
to boot-up. Other than using the laptop for a paperweight, can anyone help me
    out with a solution? victor1244

P.S. When I start the computer the hard drive starts up and shuts down immediately.

Thank you for your reply, I will pursue your suggestions.
I have just downloaded a bios version as suggested (to a separate computer).
Now my problem is to install it to my laptop (as my laptop computer will not start).

I didn't want to be the one to give you the bad news but a failed BIOS update usually means the end unless you replace the motherboard, but failures are rare and uninvited BIOS updates even rarer. Is it possible anyone else could have caused this?

If you have the bios version, then you can try
    Unplug mains
    remove battery
Press down start button for 10 seconds (this discharges any residual power)
    Connect power supply, NOT BATTERY.
    Put your bios cd/whatever in-
    Try restart.

I found a video of a similar model, that showed the cmos battery next t the hard drive-not sure if yours is the same.
If it is, and the previous suggestions got you no-where, then it can be worth removing the cmos battery, and leaving it off for a full day- This sometimes will reset the bios.
Any offers I make of this sort that you are at your own risk (I have done similar many times- but at my own risk-when nothing else worked)
Another trick with some Toshiba's to use get by a password problem, that could be worth trying, if all else fails-was to short out two small solder spots around the ram area, and start laptop whilst shorting with a screwdriver , with an insulated handle (hold in contact for about 20 seconds)- This can be chance-if nothing else works. I have tried many such things with some success over the years
This link from fixya shows a similar model- The yellow ringed two solder spots http://www.fixya.com/tags/toshiba_satellite_c55_bios_password
