    i have a asus-sli-premium mobo

now i am not going to use SLI yet so everything should be plug and play with a few personal changes. so my question is... do i have to update my BIOS?

i know my frist step is to get 2 floppy disk and get a start up and bios rdy in case.. but when it comes to doing it.. i just don't wanna mess up

i want to keep everything factory no OC'er here atm

should i plug up & post.. then instail OS take it from there. If i POST fine i wouldn't see why not to use those settings.. flahsing the BIOS isn't good for it... well it has pro's and con's like everything eles on a PC but the con's suck

first thing i would check is to see if the updated bios fixes any issues that might incure with your os and hardware and if so flashing the bios is recommended, flashing the bios on todays board isnt as bad as it was on boards made 2+ years ago alot of boards support plug n play bios update that can even be flashed in windows (XP)

    No.

    New Build?
Just put your system together & load windows.
Most likely you dont need any BIOS update, Bios updates are to solve specific problems.
What's your problem? If ya got none, new Bios will solve nothing only risk failure or corruption.

I agree with leaving it alone, unless you have a specific issue and the Bios flash addresses it.
