BIOS Settings and PSU Myth...?

Hi Guys,

I have a couple of Questions, first off, I was just playing Prey, and all off a sudden my system halted, froze, for about 3 or 4 seconds, then continued like nothing happened, it did that repeatedly every 7 to 10 seconds, until I shut her down. When I quite the game it didn't stop, it did it in windows itself also, I cant move the mouse or anything, sound even halts on the cord it is playing and repeats until it un-holts.... never happened to me before....

So here comes a few questions...

In my bios, should SYSTEM BIOS CACHABLE be enabled or disabled?
Also, what about video Bios cachable, etc? Enabled/Disabled?

Second Question, my system is setup at their default configurations, nothing is over/under clocked, so should spread spectrum be enabled/disabled, and does it affect system stability or performance on either setting?

Third question is, I have a 300Watt PSU, and I get an IE Memory error, every now and then, about 2 or 3 times a day, and also sometimes when my system boots up it won't detect my USB mouse, I have to disconnect and then re-connect it to work, I was told by a mate that it is possible both problems could be related to a PSU effeciency problem, is this correct? I have no spare PSU cables left, and the last one I used to connect my AGP GF6600 AGP, so should I upgrade to a 400+ Watt PSU?

Also, any other tips? I am also using the latest nVidia drivers for my videocard, and personally I am sure that the IE Error could also be related to a driver issue, giving a memory error.. I have run memory test programs and my system memory is fine....

 

Download speed fan and watch your voltage's, then report back. Bios should be fine at default settings, something tells me that your power supply is not up to the task. ed
