BIOS Settings

I think I have a dead battery on the mobo. before I change it, I believe that I need to save my BIOS settings and restore them when the new battery is in place' How do I do this please?

Well, if it's dead then whatever changes you made to the BIOS are gone and the BIOS will return to the default values. If you didn't change anything the you're good to go. BTW, if your battery is dead then you can't boot anyways and therefore can't copy it. You sure it's dead?

Like augie says if your battery is dead then once you replace it you have to just choose default settings on boot !

bg9208, if the computer is currently plugged in your BIOS settings haven't reverted back to the default.

When you have the new battery, unplug the computer, open it up and locate the battery. You do have a few minutes - the battery might not be completely dead to change and not lose the settings.
As soon as the new battery is in, the full 3 Volts flows again.

If, however the computer was not plugged in, then the computer has already reverted back to the default. You don't have to look and write down all the settings because that's what they will be when the new battery is inserted.

A bad battery or week battery, the first sign is usually incorrect time displayed in windows after your pc has been unplugged or powered off.

Like what everyone else posted, if your battery has taken a dump your BIOS would have already returned to default settings....
Default setting are Safe but usually not Optimal settings..........
