I need to update my BIOS version for my Win98SE. When I try to download it from the website, I get a dialog box saying "this program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down"--how do I get around this? OLB
    P.S.: Included is my dxdiag.

The bios is a chip on your motherboard that contains the basic instructions for your computer to work,it is totally seperate to the operating system, are you sure it is the bios you wish to update?Really you should only update the bios if you are having performance problems and a bios update will fix it.

If you you describe the problem you are having someone may be able to help you fix it :)

Thanks for responding, Rikky--dunno I guess I have to have a chat with my local computer guru, if I can catch him. OLB
