I've been running an Athlon 64 FX-51 w/ SK8N mobo for about a year and today when I tried to update the BIOS, I couldn't get windows to load. I reverted to the old BIOS using a floppy disk which flashed fine, but when I restarted, I got a blue screen of death which stated "video driver failed to initialize." Same problem in Safe mode. What do I do???

    Processor: AMD Athlon 62 FX-51
    Mobo: SK8N
    RAM twin sticks corsair 500MB
    Video card: Radeon 9800PRO

Do you have a video card or onboard video or both?

Make sure you have it configured correctly in your bios.

My guess is that it reverted to default settings.

When bios is flashed it always returns Bios to Default settings.

I'm having trouble finding video card settings in my BIOS... unfortunatly, this is my first rig, and BIOS is something I know little about, except changing boot priority, system time, etc.

ASUS> That's an awesome guide! I wish I had it a year ago when I built the rig.

...Unfortunatly, it doesn't solve my problem, since there is no Graphics adapter subheading in my BIOS...or if there is, I can't find it. Help! I don't wanna have to shell out $100 for a professional geek to come and fix my rig :`(

    UPDATE:

Found and switched my BIOs Primary Video to from PCI to AGP and am now getting the alluring IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL blue SOD. Still can't even start windows in safe mode.

    Have I stumped anyone?
