bios update problem

    Hello, I'm trying to Flash update my bios. An error message pops up. it says; "1.Cannot run under a protected environment, 2. press power switch to reboot and 3. ROM update not performed". I don't like bios updating, but have to do it. Any advice?

    I have a Dell Inspiron 3700 with the Phoenix A06 bios and I'm trying to update with the A17 upgrade. I got the update from the Dell website. I need to update as there are battery charging issues, as well as HD and RAM upgrades about to happen.
