I am going to update my bios on my motherboard.

But what i need to know is do i need to update them one by one or go for the last version for this motherboard below.

    https://www.gigabyte.com/eu/Motherboard/X470-AORUS-ULTRA-GAMING-rev-10/support#support-dl-bios

I am on version F6 There is a version F50 but not sure if i should go one by one through F30 up to F50.

And all so not sure how these boards read bio's so i might need help with that. There are video's but they don't really explain a lot Like what files to use or how to get the flash drive ready for them.

    Did you see this?

    Warning:
Because BIOS flashing is potentially risky, if you do not encounter problems using the current version of BIOS, it is recommended that you not flash the BIOS. To flash the BIOS, do it with caution. Inadequate BIOS flashing may result in system malfunction.

So i figured out how to update the bios.

I am working on F40 currently should be done.

If you have F6 bios installed,You have to install F30 then F31 then F40 then F41 then F42 then the last F50.

Reason why they want you to do it this way is because for compatibility fix's and improvements.

FYI make sure you use a 2gb stick for this. And it's formatted to Fat 32.Other wise it wont work or wont read the file.

You announced to the whole forum not so long ago that you were done with windows and moving to Linux?

Are we talking issues with windows, how are things working out for you with Linux? is this why you want a bios flash?

Linux was causing issues some thing with the install. It took me a couple of days to revert back to windows at that time.Linux some how locked down my main SSD drive and gave me a real hard time of removing the issue.

For any newcomers reading this thread, Wile does not represent what you should be engaging with your Operating System on a firmware basis.

First off if you are talking about the bio's update. That's the way it need's to be done with this motherboard version. And secondly i asked for help but no one helped me on this ,So i had to figure out the correct way of doing his bios update.Be cause firstly this motherboard will not allow you too go from F6 update to F50 due to the limitations at F6.So it needed to be updated in that order.

I have tried going from F6 bios to F50 and the bios would not allow that.If you read the information on there site correctly took me two takes to read through.
And the second comment is rude.

Go and read the bios instructions.

What they're saying is that updating BIOS wasn't always advisable back in the day. It could have ended up bricked. Heck, how many tablets bricked themselves, lol. These days it does seem many manufacturers treat BIOS like an update update.

If you are going to be playing with flashing a BIOS, you should keep a spare chip for your board on hand just in case you brick it, and you can swap it. Pay attention if you do, as the chip likely has an alignment mark. Can you swap your EEPROM if :crap goes south?

Mine never bricked thanks though.Even with the list above.

Yes most Bios don't really need a update. But this motherboard had updates and improvement for M.2's And it added some new items and different settings to the BIOS that where needed.

As Eldon said , - I declined to comment- then, as I have never seen as many updates, and an advisory to say don't jump to latest one, Totally different to any I have done.
I am sure , in the past, some of us would have been in trouble and in those days, unless you were capable of replacing the chip, or,jumpers on a pc- you had trouble.

There where some youtube videos that jumped directly to the last one.I don't know how they did that when it did not allow me to jump to the last one directly. But in any case here like i said above there where extra add's and options to the bios on each update. And the bios configuration kinda changed just a little in all the updates.
