long story short, I fried my old motherboard and got a brand spanking new computer. Good times. Great new fast comptuer and has all the fixings. Downloaded all the drivers and updates needed for my new monitor, my NIVIDA graphics card, and my ALbatron motherboard. Everything seems to be fine.

I start to use PHOTOSHOP and then it doesn't work. I download an BIOS update from the albatron site,a beta type file, and it says it will fix the hang in photoshop. Yet I don't think it worked, because when i asked the file to run, nothing happened. Im not sure if the BIOS even was updated, and frankly, it did not work because photoshop froze again!

Anybody having a similar problem, or know the solution? Thanks

    Peace

Im no expert but I don't think you can update your bios in windows. As far as I can remember you have to flash your bios(move a jumper or something) then load it with a floppy. The only thing I think you can update from windows as far as the motherboard is the drivers for it.

    hmmm

Thanks. I actually gotthe information from another source, andthat exact website aswell.

I followed that steps and was able to flash the bios.

However, I don'tthink i t was successful, because after it was done, during the set up installation all I saw was

"CMOS CHECKSUM ERROR" ---> Defaults Loaded

AHhhhhhhhhhh Ive tried so much! And every time Ive come up empty.

    Anything im doing wrong?

    Hi Grand
That error does occur normally with some bios after flashing, you need to enter your bios menu and change any settings you require like setting the CPU speed, power management etc etc then save your setting and exit

this error should happen when rebooting so forgive me if ive read your post wrong

Yeah as GLS said its quite normal for that to happen when CMOS data is reset, which is what happens when you flash. You just need to go into setup and sort it all out again.

BTW some mobos you CAN flash the BIOS from windows... my Abit board has a In-windows-flash utility, which downloads the correct BIOS file from the abit website and flashes the file from within windows, and it retains the old settings as well. The new bios is applied after a restart. In theory anyway. I tend not to use Windows utilities that flash bios, firstly AVs dont like them and secondly it rubs Windows protection the wrong way (i forget if its called that, whatever it is) and ive crashed in the past because of it writing to bios while in windows.
