I have an acer aspire 5741 - 5302 that I tried to upgrade the bios on and I got a verified failed message then the computer locked up and now I am trying to upgrade the bios from usb using the instructions on the appropriate service manual but when I make the attempt I plug in the power cord and press the function escape buttons and the hard drive light on the computer and light on the USB thumb drive just blink for a long time and things don't seem to be proceeding. the screen is black just as it was after I first rebooted after the error message any ideas?

Update: Ive found a webpage that details how to make a Crisis disk and use that to update the bios.. but so far same results... black screen... blinking hdd light and thumb drive light
