BIOS / Video Card problem

I just got an A8V Delux motherboard. I am currently waiting for my AGP Video Card, but i have an older PCI video card that i want to use so i can at least set up my computers hard drive and such. when i start up my computer my monitor doesnt display anything, leading me to believe that my motherboard isnt recognizing my PCI video card. I believe it to be my BIOS that is auto set to recognize an AGP card. 2 questions... does this sound right? and if so can someone tell me how to set the BIOS to recognize the PCI video card.

 

actually, if the BIOS have been cleared, the default is set to initialize a PCI VGA card before an AGP one.

are you sure the card works? have you tried it in another computer?

also, unless the PCI card is the same manufacturer as the AGP on the way, it might be more of a hastle to get rid of the drivers and get the new card working right... so if its a different one, you may as well wait

 

you might be able to force the BIOS to recognize the PCI card by going into the BIOS in the "Integrated Peripherals" menu there may be a setting called "Initial Display Adapter" and it will give you a choice AGP/PCI ... of course, every BIOS is different and it may be labeled differently or it may not even have such a setting

 

to my understanding he cant get any visual, let alone get to the BIOS.

 

Try the monitor on another system, or another monitor on yours, if possible, to eliminate monitor problems as a cause.
