If you have flashed the bios and it has failed somehow the motherboard in effect is rendered useless, depending on the age and manufacturuer of the motherboard you may be able to get them to replace it at cost of postage to yourself, but the simplest and easiest way is to buy a new motherboard,a new board can often be cheaper than the postage

A dead bios wont kill the monitor, but it will stop it being turned on,could you expand an how the bios update failed and could you post your specs:)

I downloaded a bios update from the internet and flashed the bios...The thing has not started up yet. The comp is about 2 years old...has a 2.8 intel processor and i believe a award bios chip. They sent me a bios chip when i told them it went wrong...but the puter shop guy told me the bios chip was welded in....soooooooo any other options???

I've read something in another thread, about mo/bos having a backup BIOS. Maybe you have such a thing too. I guess possibilities are zero...

Even if you could remove the chip you cant replace a blank one and flash it,it doesnt work like that, you need the exact bios chip with the correct bios for your motherboard pre flashed on the chip which can only be obtained from the manufacturer AFAIK,I have seen very few cases where the manufacturer will even send a chip,if its under warranty people just send the board back,if its not under warranty you will need a new board it really is as simple as that:)
