I have a computer that I am locked out of bios. Someone told me to clear the cmos and unplug the computer and take out the battery and let it set for 20 minutes. Was i suppose to take the battery out and let it set and then clear the cmos after that or clear the cmos first?

    What brand mobo is this?
An Asus mobo for example, to reset Cmos you remove the battery, then there is a jumper you remove from pin 1 & 2, then plug it on pin 2 & 3 for quick second, then put back to pin 1 & 2, then replace battery and reboot ( you dont have to let it set for any time, also the above is done while power is off)

When resetting the Cmos this returns the bios to default settings, no password should be one of the default settings.
After such action you should check your bios settings & change what applies to your setup.

If you have Mobo manual instructions to reset Cmos is in there, Not all Mobo's would be the same.
If you dont have Manual should be able to download at manufacture Web site.
