Bit of help with 2 SATA drives please.

I have them connected. I need Windows to detect them, they don't show up in My Computer.

I looked in the BIOS couldn't see anything.

MOBO is an Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe.

Are these HDD's
Look in "Disk management", if you see them there, right click & format then "My Computer" should see them

 

Yes, HDDs, sorry.

I don't see them in disk management, I thought perhaps there is a jumper on the MOBO?

 

Long shot here! Try running the disk that came with the drives, MaxBlast or whatever flavor you are running. If you did not get a disk, download it from the company.

Check the BIOS settings, make sure sata is enabled, and try the disk utilities for the drives that you have. Run that program and format them and you should be good to go.

I'll guess your OS is on a IDE drive


There is a Jumper to enable the SATA controller, it's near the CMOS battery & just below the CMOS reset jumper

Totally off topic here: why is the Asus web site ALWAYS so slow?!?!? Even on Broadband, download speeds are never over 30k, usually closer to 20....

Ok I've found the jumper, it was set to disable SATA, I've changed it. My drives are detected when booting, it says hit F4 to enter RAID setup.

I don't want RAID I just want to access the data already on them.

I'm downloading the SATA drivers from asus.com.

 

Installed SATA drivers, found HDDs, problem solved.
