I am using db power amp music converter to encode many of my cd's into ogg vorbis files for use on a flash player. My question is: will use of higher bit rates (such as 192kbps vs. 128 kbps) shorten battery life? I heard somewhere that it does. Also, the setting I use most is at 192kbps vbr. But I have noticed that they often end up going over 200kbps. The problem with that is if they go over 225kbps then they are useless on my flash player as it only accepts ogg files between 96 and 225kbps. Would I be better off setting for a constant bit rate or average bitrate rather than vbr... or should I lower to 160 kbps to avoid this problem?

I prefer the quality of Variable Bit Rate as opposed to Constant Bit Rate.

I would also try lowering the bit rate so that it doesn't peak as high.

As far as battery life, I can't answer that sorry.
