bit torrent doesn't download

I have been using bit torrent ok for about a year and have recently had cause to 'flatten' my pc and reinstall my software...I have reinstalled bit torrent 6.0.1 and tried to download various torrents, but every torrent I add to the "name" list simply sits there (showing a red down arrow and as being 'inactive' ) and does not download even though there are many seeds.
Any suggestions or any questions???

i just had this problem, what i had to do is open my anti virus software and unblock bittorrent and bittorrent dna and allow it to do anything it wants to, if that doesnt work i dont know what to do other than change windows firewall setting if you dont have antivirus.

 

If configuring your antivirus and firewall doesn't help (and it should), either try a different torrent client (I recommend uTorrent http://www.majorgeeks.com/%B5Torrent_d4818.html) or go to www.portforward.com and find out jow to map and forward a port in your router. I had download troubles until I mapped and forwarded a port... d/l speeds jumped from 20-40k to over 300k.

Thanks for the responce....I have been trying your suggstions and have finally found that it seems that it was 2 anti virus's together were causing some kind of problem...I have removed 1 on them and all now seems well
