A torrent file is actually a tracking file. It contains information on the actual file you want to download, but not the file itself.

You will need to load the torrent file into a bit torrent client like Azureus, which will find peers with the file you are after, and start downloading. Remember, the more seeds, the more people you can download from, and the faster you will get your file.

    Cheers!

cheers again mada milty, so basically its similar to a p2p file sharing network eg kazaa.. which iv used before and it ruined a previous pc like is that prog azuras similar in terms of security and level of contained malware as kazaa etc or am i being over cautious over it:)

Bittorrent isn't as bad as other P2P networks. There is no actual server that you download files from, as you would with Kazaa. You get your files from peers who have already downloaded it.

For a company to flood this service with malware they would have to set up a fake torrent site, as well as a bunch of client machines who have the bogus file. It was much easier for them to infect you with kazaa, because they only had to share these files on kazaa, and eventually someone would download it and infect themselves.

In any case, you should scan any file you download BEFORE OPENING, with an up-to-date AV program, and then at least you know that it is not infected with any malicious code known to your security vendor.

Also, keep the malware removal thread handy, just in case. It'll help you in the cases where your security fails. (No such thing as 100% protection, sadly)

Well, you could try downloading the eicar test virus, and zip it to see if your AV will scan inside archives.
