I'm running BitDefender 7.2 Pro and it works great, except for one issue.

Sometimes, when I start up my machine, a process called bdss.exe takes a LOT of my CPU cycles (reported via Windows 2000 Task Manager) and the taskbar loads, but the desktop doesn't, and the computer barely runs and needs to be restarted.

And also, sometimes during normal use, my machine gets really slow, due to bdss.exe hoggin the CPU cycles, and plus bdss.exe takes up a good chunk of memory space.

Is there any way to fix this and still have BitDefender work correctly? Thanks.

Hey thanks for the welcome and the link. I did visit that site before, and the relevant info I found seemed to be:

    - When using the option "Show all scanned files" in Virus Scan you may experience an increase in virtual memory usage by one of our product's processes, "bdss" and/or "bdlite". We recommend you to use this option with care.

But I am not using the "Show all scanned files" option so I don't know what it could be....

I figured as much, but I'll keep looking. Thanks for trying. :)
