    installed it on my laptop everything going ok, after a few hours it went blank on the desk top and reported that product out off date, but still had a year to run reintalled but same thing happened i have sent report to bitdefender but was hoping someone on here might have some ideas thanks

    Have you tried a system restore first before going any further, then start thinking of other options.
    This is always the first thing i try, then move on after that !

    Hi

    Is this on yoru Windows Vista PC? or another version of Windows as I remember you had an issue where Bitdefender was not updating and the suggestion to you was to either disable your firewall and check or make sure Bitdefender is allowed through the firewall, did you check this?


    Is your Bitdefender version just the AntiVirus or os it the Internet Security version?

    Is the quote above relating to the virus definitions being out of date (maybe a Windows Security Center alert or the app itself)?

    Check this for me open Bitdefender and then click Advanced View > Update and tell us what the Engine and Virus Signature versions are, also from that menu click update and tell us what happens?

    Sorry but didn't see that doing a sys restore would have done any harm and would have been my first port of call but since halo knows best do as he says after all he's a major / admin !

    tried that no go just did a reinstall of vista seems to have sorted it thanks everyone for the replys thanks again
