    Hey all,

I've got a problem with Black and White 1. I had the program installed on my computer but it was deleted when I reinstalled Windows XP to fix the problems with my registry. Well, I didn't see anything bad about this because after reinstalling XP, my computer worked perfectly again. So reinstalled Black and White because I haven't played it in a long time, however, after it successfully installed, it wouldn't load. I would take the cd out and put it back in and press "Play Black and White," but it still only loaded up to the point where the lionstudios window opened. However, that window just closes and the game does not load. I tried a diagnostic check that the cd provides, and it reads that my computer is on an NT format, and that it's Windows 2000, but I have XP. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program and it still won't load. Anybody know why this is? It's not a big deal or anything, but it's a great game, and I'd like to play it again.
    Thanks in advance

Try running the program in compatability mode. Find the executable file that starts the program in Windows Explorer, right click on it, and choose compatability mode for earlier operating systems.

    Hey Novice,

Thanks for responding. I've right-clicked on the program on the Windows Explorer desktop but it doesn't give me the option of running in compatability mode. I have XP, as well, which is being read as NT. Could it be that the program is corrupted or is it that my operating system is damaged to an extent? And since I can't choose the compatability mode option through a right-click on the icon, would there be any other way of doing that if my computer is fine and the program just needs me to choose that option?
    Thanks again

right click the icon and choose properties. There will be three tabs in the window that opens. Then choose compatability. The game says NT, because windows 2000 and XP are built around the windows NT core and is recognized as such. This is also because the game was released before windows XP. Try several of the compatibility modes to find one that might work. Also check to see if there are any patches for this game, that might enable it to run in XP!

    Hey Big Bird,

Thanks for replying. I've tried to set it on all of the compatability options but it still doesn't load. Would you recommend any website that could help out with a patch to either fix a bug that might be causing the problem or to make it more compatible with XP? It's just weird, though, because before I reinstalled XP, it worked fine, if not a little slow because my graphics card isn't great. I don't even know what model it is, it just came with the computer.
    Thanks again.
