Hey guys, ive recently (Within the past 2 or 3 months) been having 'black-screen' crashes during games (Mainly Everquest 2 and Boodline champions) increasinly more consistently. Crashing never happened untill a couple months ago and this week it has become noticably alot worse.

    Heres my computer specs:

Processor: Intel core i7 920 (Stock clocked at 2.67ghz)
    Motherboard: Gigabyte Ex58-UD5
    Ram: 6gb Corsair Dominator
Graphic Card: Nvidia GTX295 (Stock clocked)
    PSU: Corsair HX 850W

Now bearing in mind this whole system is pushing on 3 years, was built on October 21st of 2009, it may just be that one of the parts (My suspicion is the graphic card) is failing now.

Ive ran an incredible amount of tests to try and pinpoint what exactly is causing this issue to almost no avail.

I have ran Memtest from HCI design with 7 or 8 instances of it open testing 800 or so meg of ram a time and left it to finish and came back with no errors, so guessing the ram is fine.

I ran IntelBurnTest a few times and it came back with no errors which i could see, which i hope eliminates my CPU being faulty.

    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz

So that leaves the motherboard, PSU and graphic card.

Now im unsure on how to determine wether the MB or PSU are working as they should but i am just going to assume they are fine.

The graphic card during Furmark sparked abit of intrigue seen in the screenshots below.

The image below is running Furmark without Post-FX enabled.

It seems to only totally utilize one of the 2 GPUs in the graphics card when these Post-FX are enabled.

The main thing is i could run the Furmark for days and it wouldnt kneel, its only ever playing a game which i will get the blackscreen crash which requires a cold boot to restore functionality.

Things i have tried to do to remedy the crashing with no decent outcome (still crashing)

    • Total windows format.
    • Painstakingly uninstall and reinstall various nvidia graphic card drivers.
    • Clean hardware carefully of any dust (Mainly the GPU) with a hand air compressor.
    • Update all drivers

I havn't and dont think id ever like to try flashing the bios as ive heard alot of horror stories.

During gameplay the times at which it will crash seem based on the area im in, playing Everquest 2 i could be in an hardware intensive area and it wouldnt crash and i could have played for a couple hours, other times i will enter a zone try to walk past some entities (Trees or something) and it will crash, but now these crashes are becoming alot more persistent when trying to play.

If theres any other information i need to give please let me know and ill get straight on it. Dxdiag pasted below.

    Many thanks!!!!!!

Hi...I've deleted your inline log. We don't allow that here because it messes up the search function and makes it useless.

    Ahh, ok, thank you :)

My DxDiag is attachted onto this post.

It seems to be situated around games like Everquest 2 and Bloodline Champions, im not sure what DirectX or engine they run on but i played Bioshock 2 earlier today for 2 hours straight without a problem at all.
