    HP Pavilion DV7T-4100 laptop. Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit edition. 8GB RAM, Intel(R) Core(TM) I7 CPU Q740 @1.73GHz

Recently I installed a new hard drive after imminent drive failure errors. Since then at startup my laptop has an abnormally longer black screen prior to windows starting. I believe the lag time is getting longer.

Do I need to do same steps as malware or could this be hardware related issues?

Upon startup the computer runs perfectly. Not sure if I failed to do something upon installing new hard drive and recovering backup. All the windows updates are done.

    I appreciate any help.
