black screen of death

I have an old dell optiplex gx100 when i turned it on i got a blue screen so i tried to reboot in safe mode now the the screen is black and says primary hard drive 1 is not found press f1 to boot so i did and the says c:\ whats up if you type anything in it says invalid drive in search path can anyone tell me what i need to type in to get pass this screen thank you piccolo

 

Sounds like the os is fubar, or maybe the drive died.

If you take the side off of the computer, can you hear/feel the drive spinning?

 

That's what it looks like to me. If the OS was trashed, the drive would at least be seen by the PC and the OS would try to boot and crash. It's not even getting that far. There's a very, very, very high probability that the hard drive is toast.

 

yes i can feel it and hear it ive tried three and it doesn't see any of them
