black screen with cursor after windows logo

i boot my pc (windows 7)...

goes to "starting windows" screen...

then a black screen with a cursor i can move.


It never gets to the logon screen, i cant boot into safe mode, ctrl + alt + del doesnt work either.

booting to last known good configuration doesnt work.

i can access the bios, i can start my installation cd, and i can get to the f8 menu....but so far nothing works.

any ideas? If you need me to tell you anything about the pc, let me know and i'll list the specifics.


its weird because last night i shut down the pc and everything was working fine.

then i turn it on today and it wont boot....saying something about 0xc0000e9 and i/o errors. After using the installation disk and trying to repair it, that error went away, but now im at the problem that i first mentioned.

 

try running a repair from the windows disk, when you get in do CHKDSK /r

 

i ran the chkdsk /r and when it finally finished it had 0kb in bad sectors and at the end it said "failed to transfer logged messages to the event log with status 50."

not sure what that means


but after it finished i restarted and nothing changed, it still has a black screen with the movable cursor
