Black Window Flashes On Screen

Don't really know which forum to post, so will post here.
While on line, a black box flashes on my screen. It happens so fast and unexpectedly that I cannot catch a word. It is all blank except the top looks like it may be a Notepad or Wordpad window but not sure. It happens about every 4 or5 minutes and is becoming very annoying. I use Windows 98 se. I use Firefox brouser. I have run all of my scans, both window and Norton scans but can't find the problem. Would appreciate any help anyone can give me.

 

Sounds like a command window. Indicates that a low-level process is excuting, ... might be a folder being emptied, trash being cleared, something like that. We can't know what you've got set to run.

Can you think of ANYTHING that you have set to run automatically every five minutes or so? If you can figure out what this thing is that runs every five minutes, we can help you stop it.

 

Can't think of anything that I have set to run often except I have my brouser set to check my mail every ten minutes and I have had this setting for years,so just don't know what it is. I'll keep looking for such a program that may be running. Thanks for the help.

 

Just remembered that I tried to play an old DOS game from a floppy the other day. I didn't install it and it didn't play so I just quit it. Don't know how this would be a problem when online.
The Window just came up while I'm typing and I beleive I caught DUCINS or something close. Have you heard of this. I don't remember anything by this name. Thanks again.

I looked thru a couple of the links, seems to be related to Norton Anti Virus auto update, If your running NAV, turn off auto update.

 

Thanks Guys, I think that I've found my problem. Instead of Norton Anti Virus, I found the problem in Music Match. I suspected Music Match because whenever I clicked the Icon on my desktop, the internet box would come up, so I went in Music Match and unchecked the internet options. Its been several hours and no pop ups yet. Thanks again. You guys are great.
