I was making a backup copy of a dvd , a message came up that said burn unsuccessfull ,I retried it and it burned complete but the original disc would not work , had to use another one, is the original one that the message came up on now useless or is there a way to still use it other than a place to put my coke

What speed are the dvds rated(ie:8x-16x) and what are you attempting to burn at??
Also depends on the media your copying (copy protection-etc)
Try turning down your burn speed to see if that helps.

Nero is the best, make sure ya have all the avaible updates.
Using Cheap er Generic Media can result in Lot's of Coasters.

Might be able to help but first.
Tell us more about your set up, Specs please, Include what brand & model burner and what brand & type media your using.

Yes there is, LOL, if you have trees near where you park your car, then Hang them from the trees, This will scare the birds away then you will have less Bird Shit on your car.
They also look cool when sunlight or other light shines on them.

    A few thoughts,

    Is your Drive clean?
When you burn dont Multi-task, Burning uses lot of resourses.
Are you burning at the rated speed of your media, Ive heard those Lite-ons have trouble burning at speed's different than the media (slower or faster)
I'd try different media, I've had best luck using media thats contains AZO metal dye.
I buy my Media from www.meritline.com they also have great Customer Service.
Two of my favorite brand of media is GreatAZO & BeAll (somewhere on Meritlines web is a Media compatitability page)

Check Nero web for Updates, I would consider Uninstall & Reinstall then update of Nero.
Are you using the latest version's of Shrink/Decrypter?
    Check your settings/preferances
Shrink by default uses Nero's Burning rom, that is the best way.
I hardly ever use Decryptor, there is better utility for CSS removal (Quicker too) DVD43free, runs silent, works instantly, saves lot's of time.
One comment on decryptor, it has a great feature, the ability to ignor errors.

Thier may be a Firmware update avaible, I dont usually recommend as there are risks, the last drive I tryed one on is now in a land fill, probably would have ended up there anyway.
