Blank emails

For some reason in outlook express I can recieve emails but they are all blank even old ones, I also cannot write an email as I do not get the cursor over the text part and also cannot change the typeface.

Here is a screenshot of an old email that I was once able to read

Welcome to Major Geeks HW84 as I do not use OE, I cannot personally tell you to much other than the fact that it appears that something has changed your OE config file. I would recommend using another E-Mail program than OE to many problems there for myself, again welcome to MG

I think maybe it has to do with Java as webpages where you click a small thumbnail and the main picture changes that doesn't work for me now either but I have noticed at the botton of the webpage where normally it says done is a java text

May I humbly suggest using Mozilla's (makers of Firefox) "Thunderbird" E-mail program it has more features than OE and is more secure to boot, that might just resolve your present problems and possible future ones.

I'm not trying to "Freak Out' anyone, but it could be your antivirus email scanner. I've sent emails to myself and had the pictures I inserted turned completely black due to antivirus scanning.
I've sent and received a few 'blank' emails as well. You might try turning off Norton's email scanning function for a bit and see what happens.

The plain and simple answer is no. And here's why;

The file has to be downloaded before it can be scanned.
If your anti virus shows a false positive, which is a frequent occurrence, an important and totally innocent message may be deleted.
As long as your real time system scanner is running then you are still protected.
To make it much safer when opening Emails set OE to read all messages as plain text. That way any nasties that are coded into the message will not run unless they are in an attachment and yes I am aware that HTML messages are much prettier. Which do you prefer, Safe or Pretty? The most important rule is don't open attachments or messages that you are not 100% positive are safe. If you want to read an HTML message and do it safely then SAVE the message as an *.eml file and then double click it to open in OE. In that case your on demand anti-virus scanner will check the file before it opens.

Tried that already thanks though it is something I think with Java as when I am on a web page and you click certain links that opens a java box nothing happens

I found this:

My uncle is having a weird problem with his outlook express. He has winxp Pro with all updates in his pc. I have fixed his pc in the past in which he had a total of 61 viruses/trojans and junk in his machine, so i dont know if that might be an issue now....

When he receives a message via OE he can see the from, to and subject with text but when he opens the email it comes up blank.... there's no text to read. I removed and reinstalled from add/remove in windows components, re-installed ie6 by downloading ie6setup.exe from MS. Had him clear out all his temp files with a prog called IEprivacykeeper. Deleted his account from OE and recreated it....no luck.

ok i found the fix for..... i re-installed outlook by running an inf file in c:\windows\inf. the file is msoe50.inf. just right click and select install. you will need the cd. as soon as it was over i opened up OE and he could see the text in his emails!

I did a file search for this file and it is on my computer in the same folder.

Maybe it would work for you?
