Blank Error message

    Hi!

    I got my other error sorted.

    Now whenever I boot up, I see an error message with nothing written in the window title or the main area. The title is greyed out and you cant close it.

    There is a yes or no. When i click on any of these, it just logs off and logs on again, only to get it again. It keeps on looping

    I can boot into safe mode. Any ideas?

    Boot into Safe Mode.

    Go to start, run, msconfig.

    Click on the services tab.

    Check the box for "hide all microsoft services".

    List the names of what are left here please.

    Hi!

    Here are the Non-microsoft services:

    avast! AVS4 Control Service
    avast! Antivirus
    avast! Mail Scanner
    avast! Web Scanner
    PCTEL Speaker Phone
    SmartLinkService
    TrueVector Internet Monitor

    Nothing here that i would say is harmful.

    came across this very issue last month.

    Uninstall either Avast or Zone Alarm as their can be on some PCs a conflict, ( happens on some and not others dunno why.. the makers are trying to address it )

    does this stop the looping?

    I've tried uninstalling ZoneAlarm, but it doesn't work.

    See if you can log into Safe Mode w/ Networking, or if the same problem occurs.
