when i load up my warcraft 3 the screen freezes for about 10 seconds every few seconds. and the game is ultimately unplayabled. i have the latest drivers from nvidia.com and i have directx 9.0c is there mebbe something im sposed to change or lower etc. or are the drivers just insufficient. i use a dell dimension 4600 with a geforce 128mb fx 5200.

also when installing World of Warcraft i get an intsall message on the disc every so often

I had this similar problem with my gf6800GT; turns out that the heat sink was making poor contact with the core because it had almost no thermal paste.

This might be too late, but what Omegmec said is that the problem may be with your video card itself. If you have poor contact with the HS and your GPU (which is physically on the card) then your video card will get too hot too fast, and be unable to do anything that stresses the card too much (i.e. playing any games that are graphics-intensive). You have a few options at this point:

    1) You can go buy some TIM (also know as thermal paste, costs like 2.00 for a tube of decent stuff), take the HSF(Heatsink-Fan combo) off your physical card, put the TIM on the chip, and put the HSF back on (on video cards, HSF are held in by some plastic pins that you can remove with your fingers)

2)you can send the card back to the manufacturer (if under warranty), or get a new card. Personally, I use these times as an excuse for an upgrade :D .

Sorry if not what you were looking for, but you did say you were confused.

You can recieve help for the above options in the Hardware section
