    Networked PC running Vista SP2

*BRILLIANT* NON-geek that I am, I decided it would be a good idea to remove (uninstall) the Online Armor Firewall that I had on the above mentioned machine, as it was seemingly pretty fouled-up from settings, etc. that I had instituted some months ago when the machine was last in service.

However, just prior to removing/uninstalling it, I had been trying to properly configure it, and had "allowed" something (?) from NVIDIA to run or get through the firewall without any trouble/warning/interference (simply because I recognized the name "NVIDIA", and I'm new to the whole networking thing, it's late, and I am tired).

Immediately upon restart from uninstalling the software firewall, I had lost the internet connection to the machine.

Windows Network Diagnostics is telling me:

There might be a problem with one or more network adapters on this computer - The Network Adapter "NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller is experiencing driver or hardware related issues".

I'm guessing by having allowed NVIDIA through the Firewall (changing a configuration setting that had just prior been working perfectly), that I have reactivated this controller, which is now overriding the automatic settings of the Belkin Wireless adapter that I recently installed? Something to that effect?

I looked in device manager to see if I could do anything, but didn't find the exact NVIDIA device as it is referred to by Windows Network Diagnostics.

PS ~ the router is working as usual - all normal lights are lit.

    Update/CORRECTION

The NVIDIA controller is listed in Device Manager (it is late and I am tired).

In fact, most everything is listed twice (doubled), with one of the listings for each mentioning an "Online Armor Miniport".

Not sure if I should disable the NVIDIA controller there (in Device Manager) or enable the Belkin Wireless Adapter...or just exactly what I should do... exactly...?

Maybe this attached photo (sorry for the lack of "quality") from Device Manager will better help me to explain?

I lost my internet access immediately after I uninstalled an "Online Armor" ("OA") software program firewall. However, I had just allowed something from NVIDIA (a controller?) to run in the firewall before I uninstalled the firewall.

Again, as you may be able to see, most things appear to be "doubled" there, on the list, and half of them have; "Online Armor "Miniport" noted at the end.

    Does this make sense please?

The item that is highlighted (very difficult to read) at the top of the Network Adapters list is an old Belkin wireless adapter that I no longer use (I no longer even own it for that matter).

Well, the "trick" seems to have been to shut-down (though I had tried that), unplug, and leave it for 48 hours...upon restart it found the network, so.......?
