    Hey all,

I had someone at church ask me how to block Yahoo Mail off there PC because one of there staff members keeps checkinger her mailing and opening malware ridden attachments. I told her I would try and figure out how.

So here I am... Haven't accomplished a thing :p. Does anyone know how to block Yahoo Mail (mail.yahoo.com and yahoomail.com) on a computer using the host file in C:/Windows/System32/Drivers/etc?

    Thanks,
    Christopher.

You could add an entry like

    mail.yahoo.com 1.1.1.1

And that would try to direct any requests for that hostname to that dummy IP address....just keep it in the same format as the other entries in the hosts file.

more amusing might be to use the IP address of the churches website ;)

also you might want to block login.yahoo.com

You might consider installing a decent AV too.

    Ahhh yes! Thanks man!

I was slightly confused: I thought that you entered in the URL and then it's IP and it would display a forbidden error when visiting such site :p. Thanks a lot man :).

I really like this site... People are speedy and nice. I will try and repay this by helping some time :).

    Thanks again!

Heck yah, that would be cool :). Especially seeing how I built the site :).
