bloody kids

my daughter returned from england on wednesday and she has screwed with my puter. i dont know what she did but i first noticed i was unable to get the spell check thingy on mozzilla. i did a system restore to tuesday and now it wont access firefox at all. do i a) reverse the restore? b) re-download firefox? if i have to redownload it, do i have to uninstall it etc. first. (i hope this makes sense to one of you.) much aloha

 

is that all thats wrong? if so, yeah, id just go with reinstalling FF, u shouldnt have to uninstall it first or anything.

 

lol. yes. i guess it just rattles my cage when things dont do what they normally do.

 

i have reversed the restore . so i'm back where i started. i've lost the spell check so can some one give me the 'plug in' or whatever its called. also i am still getting the anoying little subframe box each time yahoo messenger starts up. can someone please tell me how to make it go away. many thanks.

 

Sort your Program Files folder ( that's probably where they are installed) by descending date and you will see what new programs may have been loaded since the rellies arrived.

If you didn't install it, it's a fair bet that daughter did. Bazza

 

aparently she updated firefox. although i dont see how that would uninstall the spell check thing. i looked on the themes and extentions page but cant see one for a spell check. am i looking for the wrong thing? is it called something other than spell check? bazza, good idea to put the programs in date order as she is not the only one who messes with my machine.

thankyou thefool, you are a total sweetheart, but.... the first link looked right, but it sez it wont work with windows, which of course is what i have.. is the description out of date? should i try to download it anyway? and i also remember having to download some sort of dictionary for it to work from.

 

Sometimes sorting folders from Z-A, instead of the usual A-Z, throws a different light on things as well. Baz

the sub-frame pop up boxes went away on their own. just thought i'd let you know. i dont know how or why.
still no firefox spell check. aparently she was accessing her (UK) email and when she went to respond there was no tool box on the compose mail box. not only could she not change colours and fonts but, horrors of horrors, no smilies. not only had the yahoo smilies 'disappeared' but she could no longer load them from the smilie page she uses
( http://www.anchoredbygrace.com/smileys/smileys1.html ). in an effort to restore these things she 'played arround a bit', and updated 'things'.
we managed to resolve this by accessing through IE. so its a mozilla thing. i wonder why MG cant just have their own spell check? they have all the other tools. anyway much aloha for the support.

she has another week or so, (23rd). then she has a month or so more of uni, then she intends to take (another) year off to travel, and THEN i should get her back for good.
