Blu Ray Drive Won't Open

I press on the button, it makes a sound like it's trying to open, but it doesn't. I tried ejecting from windows explorer, same thing. I tried putting a paper clip in the little hole on the drive too, won't come out. Could this be because I installed a second hard drive and there is conflict?

 

No. And the proof is when you tried using a paper clip. Using a paper click to push on the release mechanism is totally an independent, mechanical operation. If it would not open then, that means something is either jammed inside the drive (like another optical disk) or the tray mechanism is physically damaged - perhaps something is bent or loose in some way, preventing it from opening.

Just to make sure, when you inserted the paper clip, the computer should have been powered off. Then you insert the paperclip in about 1/2 inch until it hits a stop. Then you push more to release the tray so it pops open just a little bit - enough to grab and pull it open the rest of the way.

On some drives, if the computer is running, the paperclip will still release the mechanism, but not open. The power needs to be off.

 

cool, I tried using the paper clip while the computer's off, and it worked! It was a bit hard, took me like 3 tries though. Now the drive ejects with no problem. There was no disc inside, I don't know what the problem was. Anyway, thanks a lot man!
