blue line on display

    all of a sudden i have a blue line running top to bottom in the middle of my display...dell 19" lcd...nvidia 8800 ultra...uninstalled drivers...reinstalled drivers from nvidia...still sad...help?

    Welcome to Major Geeks!
    It's probably not the driver.... either the video card is bad, or the LCD is bad, and it's probably the LCD. There's also a small chance that the video cable is either loose on either the PC end or the LCD end, or the cable may have been damaged (cats like to chew 'em for some reason). If the PC has on-board video, open the case and remove the 8800 and plug the display into the on-board video. If the line is still there, then we know it's the display. The main way to know if it's the driver (and I can't imagine it is the driver) is to boot in safe mode. If the line is still there, then it's not the driver. If the line is there from the moment you power on the computer, then it can't be a software thing. If you have acces to a 2nd display or monitor, give it a shot.

    You were correct in the fact that my video cable had come loose...

    It's retightened and I'm golden again...

    kind of strange...my first name initial is d and my last name initial is b...
